Helping Mookie

by Kyle, September 12, 2008

My friend Mookie asked for some help with an osCommerce website for his t-shirt company, Surfer's Quest. I decided to help him out in exchange for some free shirts. Talk about win-win. He gets a professionally design ecommerce site while get to build out my portfolio and get some sexy shirts.

Check out my payments so far: Surfer's Quest apparel on flickr.

New focus: individual promotion sites

by Kyle, August 3, 2008

I've started using flickr and facebook to connect with friends near and far and promote myself in general. I'm going to specialize in the niche of individual/self promotion for others.

See the Unvain Blog for more details of what this is all about.

Learning more marketing techniques

by Kyle, July 3, 2008

I'm learning more about advertising on the web. I bought Web Marketing for Small Businesses to help market this site and apply the principles to my customers' sites. I just finished reading Primalbranding which was a practical take on building a brand although not specific to the online world. Interestingly enough, the latter book was mentioned in the former and some of the techniques explained are based on pieces of Primalbranding.

eriKreative.com is ready for prime-time

by Kyle, May 20, 2007

Today I made significant progress on Erik Hunter's site. I wrote a dynamic image resizing and caching tool that speeds up load times dramatically, even for broadband users. It took a while because I had to work around bugs/features in Safari but the result was worth the time. My next big task is optimizing the site for search engines.
